M2 Dysfunctions in Female Pelvic Health: Can Pilates Help ?

Introduction

This is an in-depth look at a variety of common dysfunctions affecting the Pelvis, Pelvic Floor and  'Core' system comprising 8 hours of education broken down into 16 lessons.

Whilst this is a stand-alone course in its own right it is also a module in the Exercise for Female Pelvic Health Specialist Qualification.

The Module starts with a background to Pelvic Floor Conditions before focussing individual lessons on 6 key dysfunctions:

  • Stress Urinary Incontinence
  • Urge Urinary Incontinence
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse
  • Bowel Problems
  • Pelvic Pain
  • Pelvic Surgeries

The course moves on to consider the effects of stages of female life on the Pelvic Health with both Post Natal and Post Menopause being looked at in detail.

Having an understanding of the Dysfunctions attention moves to Pilates and Exercise and the evidence that there is positive research backing the use of these as a part of helping to recover the pelvic area to good health and then from that evidence you’re led to consider 'How' you alter your exercise / Pilates programming to take that evidence into account.

To conclude the course discusses the importance of screening women to uncover poor Pelvic Health to allow you to programme for their individual needs.
