Biography

Imelda is a registered physiotherapist, fully certified Pilates instructor owning her own small Pilates Apparatus  studio in Royston, Hertfordshire,  UK

Imelda  specialised in Paediatric Physiotherapy and sees clients on a domiciliary basis. She is also consultant physio in a children’s hospice and provides clinical supervision to physiotherapists working in a special school. Imelda lectures and runs workshops for professionals working with children.

In addition Imelda works in association with NHS Adenbrokes Hospital Oncology Unit and maggies Cancer Charity to offer all breast cancer survivors a 6 week post operative rehabilitative program to help them to regain full function once more.

Imelda trained with Stott Pilates IMP. AM. IR, AR, ICCB, ACCB, ISP  

Imelda is a Chartered Physiotherapist and splits her working week approximately 80 / 20 between Pilates and physiotherapy

Over the past decade Imelda has worked with Stott Pilates, Active Training, Pilates Solutions Ltd, Mbodies and Mbodies Training Academy Ltd training Pilates instructors and teaching Workshops, presenting at Conferences and lecturing to Physiotherapists and Pilates Instructors– including Blackpool International Showcase, FitPro, CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapists), Yoga & Pilates Show, UK Military Remedial Instructor Convention etc.

Imelda coordinates the development of the Special Populations (Clinical Programming for Mbodies and more recently Mbodies Training Academy.  She has been involved in a Pilot Scheme for a UK REPS Level 4 exercise for Neuromuscular conditions in conjunction with the UK MS Society and Oxford Brooks University Oxford and she is Uk tutor for Fitness Professionals seeking PMA recognised qualifications in the area of Neurological conditions - mainly stroke, MS, Parkinson's.

In Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire she teaches a variety of classes from essential level to advanced. In addition to adult classes, she runs teenage classes and occasional classes for children of primary school age.

Health professionals such as Consultants, General Practitioners, Physiotherapists and Osteopaths refer clients to Imelda on a regular basis.

In addition to her specialisms - Imelda is a 'Bone Safe' practitioner and tutors on courses to help Fitness professionals and Physiotherapists choose suitable exercises for people with Brittle bones or low bone density, she also specialises in exercise for post menopausal women, men in their mid life and the active elderly.
